What Does It Take to Break A Habit?

Behavior change is not merely a matter of knowledge or skill.  If that were true, then all the information campaigns on how to improve your health would have made behavior-related illnesses a thing of the past.  And birth control information would prevent teen pregnancies.  Sadly, many people fail to create lasting changes in their behaviors and will repeat their failures over and over again…

Have you ever tried to break a habit?  The key to creating and maintaining behavior change is   Continue reading “What Does It Take to Break A Habit?” »

How Are You Helping to Make or Break Your Intimate Relationships?

Valentine’s Day was established by papal decree in 496AD as a day to celebrate our relationships with those we love most deeply. At that time it wasn’t connected with romantic love. In the high Middle Ages, during the time of development of courtly love as a tradition, Geoffrey Chaucer changed that. Since that time we see Valentine’s Day as a sort of one-day shorthand for what an intimate partner or marriage relationship should look like.  Starry-eyed, blissful, sweet, easy, sexual, and everloving might describe what our expectation of intimate relationships are.  But like most things in life, when we truly take a look, we see much more complexity than that…  Continue reading “How Are You Helping to Make or Break Your Intimate Relationships?” »

Who Gives High End Companions the Right to Claim Gifts?

Is any soccer / hockey player worth several hundred thousand of currency per week?  Are high end female companions worth thousands per hour?  Human life may well be irreplaceable and time may well be increasing in value by the day, but…   Continue reading “Who Gives High End Companions the Right to Claim Gifts?” »

How Are We Rethinking Prosperity at Current Economic Times?

Despite lingering unemployment and a still sluggish economy, many Americans are finding reasons to be thankful at this time of the year. For many, unexpected layoffs, financial setbacks, or simply a desire to spend more time with family have served as a reality check, a wake-up call for consumers to rethink their idea of wealth and prosperity.   Continue reading “How Are We Rethinking Prosperity at Current Economic Times?” »

The Test of Honesty: Take the Cash and Dash? Or Leave and Peeve?

Does it pay to be honest where money is concerned?  If it does pay, does it pay more or less than it would not to be honest?  If you choose to be honest, are you being stupid?  Silly?  If you told your friends about your honest reaction in a particular situation where money is concerned, would they judge you as crazy?  How would you react in situations which give you the option to be honest or not to be honest?  What would you do in a situation like the one described here? Continue reading “The Test of Honesty: Take the Cash and Dash? Or Leave and Peeve?” »

Cannucktions: What Is It About Canada That Everybody Loves?

Albeit many people have told me that they wouldn’t live in the States even if one paid them, I’ve NEVER heard anyone say anything bad about Canada.  So why is this country enjoying such a lovable status?  Why is the Canadian passport going to have greater value than even the British one in 10 – 15 years if not earlier?   Continue reading “Cannucktions: What Is It About Canada That Everybody Loves?” »

Where Are You?

It’s funny how we can be next to someone, but not be with them.  It makes me sad to see couples in restaurants sharing a meal in silence, not even sharing eye contact.  And I’m sure you have experienced having your attention wander when interacting with someone or trying to focus on something.  We suddenly realize we aren’t focused and bring ourselves back to the moment – or not.  We also notice immediately when someone else isn’t really present with us.   They’re in their heads thinking about something else, looking at their cell phone, or at something other than us.  And sometimes we find it hard to come back to the present moment and let go of what had dragged our attention away from the moment.  http://light-bringer-world.com/wp-admin/tools.php?page=spamstopper

A Tale of Two Cities: Toronto – London UK

Well, here I am at my Toronto base after having spent unfair, but unforgettable amounts of time at my London [UK] base.  Nowadays I always add the UK after London, because there’s a London in Ontario – about 2 hours’ drive from Toronto, so confusion may arise easily for those who are aware of this.  Since there’re also 4 Torontos in various states of the USA, strictly I should be adding Canada after Toronto, yet somehow know that my [Ontarian] Toronto rules, so feel there’s no need to do so.   Continue reading “A Tale of Two Cities: Toronto – London UK” »

Gents, Don’t Waste Your Time [on Women Who Don't Deserve It]

Every minute you‘re making choices.  Think of the options of saying yes or no to (s)exercise. By saying yes to one activity you’re saying no to a million others.  Yet, many men I’ve come across are making choices that prove wasteful, but unfortunately, these individuals don’t see that it is this wastefulness that often frustrates them… Continue reading “Gents, Don’t Waste Your Time [on Women Who Don't Deserve It]” »
